The T-03 side table is a study in contrasts: merging light with dark, solid with void, in a play of juxtapositions. Drawing inspiration from the structural elements of large concrete buildings, like pillars and joists, and the precision of architectural grid patterns, T-03 features a design of four equal 'pillars' and eight 'joists'. These elements are arranged so that the distance between the pillars matches the width of a pillar itself. In well-lit conditions, the table's negative space is prominent. However, as the light fades, these subtleties blend, giving the table the appearance of a single, dark plinth.
Crafted from solid Ash, the table's deep coloration isn't due to staining but from repeated torching. This process not only imparts a dynamic, rich color, almost an intense brown bordering on black, but also enhances the wood's texture. This effect, best appreciated up close, fosters a unique, personal connection with the piece. The torching also hardens the wood's surface by eliminating the softer grain, adding to its distinct tactile quality.
